Al-Sheikh Hasan is A local village unit belonging to Matay Town. The students need to walk every day about 10 KM to go to school and back home again. The main idea of the building is to create a simulation for the student’s journey to the old school through paths and spaces to walk through the journey of knowledge and to reach a place where light is flooded through the paths of knowledge. School must be a place of discovery, a place of not knowing then knowing. Our goal is creating cost-effective and environment-friendly solutions using natural and locally sourced earth materials in East Minya and are traditionally used in the construction of houses. These traditional clay-building techniques were modified and modernized to create a more structurally robust construction in the form of CEB walls and vaulted roofs. The clay bricks have the added advantage of being cheap, easy to produce, and also provides thermal protection against the hot climate for both roofs and walls. Our mission is to design and build a sustainable structure and community through knowledge transfer and user engagement
