The site is an existing house in Alrezaykat Bahary, in Luxor, it overlooks a beautiful farm. It had been terribly harmed due to a fire and a palm tree that fell on it. Engineer Marwa Zaki contacted Hand over to rebuild A’m Khairy’s house, the design team aspire to explore a new alternative in the design, that was not tried yet. An idea that is quite challenging to create a new character yet blending in the area, the design was inspired from the traces of the family’s burnt house, so the design philosophy was to design what we called “City House”, it is not just a house, it is like a city center for the people in the neighborhood so the design was to have a vernachular spirit; dome that has a ventilation system, and that should be a stamp for a whole neighborhood to gather under in a courtyard that has an oven in which created a semi private space for the family. The interior spaces designed with arches, to be used in the Interior design. The unit is designed to be incremental in which users have the flexibility to add another floor in the future.
